STI College Honors Esteemed Graduates in Alumni Awards

STI College has honored yet another group of remarkable professionals at the 2024 STI Distinguished Alumni Awards (STIDAA) ceremony on May 31, 2024, in Solaire Resort in Paranaque City.

Presented annually by the STI Alumni Association (STIAA), 11 graduates across STI’s 63 network of schools received recognition for upholding their alma mater’s teachings through their personal accomplishments, value-driven services, and making a positive difference in the community.

These individuals address social issues, creating positive change through innovative solutions. They identify problems within society and develop new approaches, products, services, or models to address these challenges effectively. Social innovators often work across sectors and collaborate with various stakeholders, including communities, governments, businesses, and non-profit organizations.

Hannah Jill R. Bato

Mural Artist, Palette-in-Motion Art Services

Armed with utmost creativity, resilience, and determination, Ms. Bato was able to put up her very own Palette-in-Motion Art Services where she transforms blank walls into stunning murals, sparking joy and spreading magic to her clients. As a testament to her passion for the arts, she was named as one of the Top 5 awardees of the Mural Art National Hero of the Philippines by the Borough United Resto Group Corporation in 2023.

 
Bill Ringer A. Salalima

Senior Project Manager, Micropinnacle Technology Corporation

Starting out as a Technical Assistant, Mr. Salalima’s exceptional skills and commitment to his duty led him to soar through the ranks. Now, he is not only the esteemed Senior Project Manager at Micropinnacle Technology Corporation, but he's also the co-owner of Lavander Books Publishing House.

Admirably, his dedication goes beyond his professional pursuits. As the co-founder of the "One Child, One Piece" outreach project, he champions the cause of underprivileged students in Mindanao by providing them with school supplies annually.

With what her colleagues describe as an “unshakeable commitment to justice,” Ms. Correo has been an advocate for human rights. As an esteemed member of the Philippine National Police Legal Services, she promotes fairness, and respect, and ensures that proper justice is always served. Her unblemished desire to serve and protect fueled her to carve a path in the law and law enforcement where she is currently studying for a master’s degree in law.

Entering the workforce in 2016, she has earned countless awards for her dedication to excellence, all while serving as an inspiration to her colleagues. Last year, she was among the Top 10 Toyota Outstanding Performer in Sales, besting 4,000 other marketing professionals across the country.


Angelo P. Rivera

Senior Salesforce Developer, Monash University

Driven to live his life to the fullest after being diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease, Mr. Rivera did not let his health concerns get the best of him. He was able to draw strength to balance his passion as an IT professional at Monash University, one of the most prestigious universities in Australia while transforming his passion for photography into a successful venture. He is a powerful example of how resilience and faith can move mountains and how an individual is made to be more.

Her exceptional skills and dedication have undoubtedly left a lasting mark on the ever-evolving landscape of skincare and laser treatments in the Middle East.

After facing several rejections and difficulties in earning her wings as a cabin crew, Ms. Parks always made sure to keep her eyes on the ultimate prize. Equipped with the valuable knowledge she learned from the institution, she moved to the United States of America where she is now proudly standing as a full-fledged cabin crew for SkyWest Airlines in San Francisco, California.

Mr. Benavente is a creative barista who boasts decades of talent and experience. He has consistently been ranked among the top performers in multiple National Latte Art competitions in the United Arab Emirates that has consistency helped him showcase his exceptional skills and talent in the world. He has proudly represented the country in the 2018 and 2019 editions of the World Coffee Championships in Brazil and Germany, respectively.

Abner M. Aler

Fueled by his lifelong dream of making a positive difference in the business field, Abner Aler isn’t afraid of taking calculated risks when venturing outside his comfort zone. Today, he is a proud owner of three thriving businesses in the furniture and hospitality industry and a recipient of the Go Negosyo Most Inspiring MSME. What defines his success, however, is his positive impact on the people around him; sharing his knowledge and experiences to inspire aspiring business leaders.


Shina S. Aquino

Tenacious and smart, Ms. Aquino has always had a passion for business since she was still in high school. Starting an online gadget shop in 2013 has led her to gain the necessary skills to venture into other business opportunities. While it wasn’t always successful, her determination has led her to establish Amara Shia Jewelry. Initially an online shop, she was able to dive into the brick-and-mortar setting and has now three shops in General Santos City, Davao, and Manila.

“Aside from their remarkable milestones, we also celebrate their impact on their respective industries and communities,” STI Alumni Association (STIAA) Trustee Sherwin Macalintal said during the event. “Their contributions are the embodiment of the values and principles of the STI community: the same values that continue to inspire the new breed of leaders and achievers,” he added.

These 11 remarkable individuals are a testament to STI’s staunch commitment to delivering nothing but academic excellence to its learners. It has become a part of the four-decade-long legacy of bringing real-life education that has produced world-class professionals for leading industries all over the globe.
