STI Alumnus Conquers BAIMUN II in Indonesia

Aaron Jay Quitain, a Bachelor of Science in Travel Management alumnus of Batch 2018 from STI College San Pablo made the STI community as well as the Philippines proud by representing the country in the Bali Asia International Model United Nations (BAIMUN) II on January 18-21, 2020 at Bali International Convention Centre in Bali, Indonesia.
Working as a Customer Service Representative at International Airline Services as well as a journalist at International Youth Journal, Aaron is one of the applicants who were chosen to be part of the event after submitting his online application form.
Hosted by International Global Network, the event is a simulation of an actual United Nations (UN) conference where participants are tasked with solving a global issue through researching, drafting, lobbying, and debating to pass a suitable resolution.
With the theme entitled “The Evolving of Cultural and Environmental Awareness for a Better Future,” Aaron had the opportunity to share the current state of the country’s tourism industry and also express his ideas on how to resolve certain issues faced by Filipinos.
Together with 243 delegates from 23 countries, he discussed issues such as the Philippine government’s role in ensuring and promoting sustainable tourism in its territory as well as the sources of funding in developing and expanding the country’s tourism sector.
Together with the other participants, Aaron also had the chance to visit one of the beaches in Bali not only to have fun but also to participate in a beach clean-up.
Without a doubt, Aaron is equipped with relevant knowledge and skills to conquer his career. His accomplishment proves the institution’s success in producing a competent individual through the delivery of superior learning systems.
