The STI 14th National Youth Convention:

February 19, 2009

The growing globally competitive industry manifests a need for an equally competitive workforce. STI, foreseeing this parameter, continues to provide creative learning experiences for its students to become globally-competitive graduates. One of the main venues is STI's annual National Youth Convention (NYC).

On its 14th year, the STI NYC once again takes the spotlight with this year's theme of cracking the code to success through effective online and offline communications and financial management.

The caravan kicked-off in Baguio on November 28, 2008 followed by the series on December 12 in Cebu, January 13, 2009 in Iloilo, January 15 in Bacolod, January 23 in Tacloban, February 5 & 6 in Metro Manila, February 10 in Cagayan De Oro and February 13 in Davao.

STIers have gained a lot of takeaways through interesting topics delivered by a roster of reputable presenters.

Connect - Universal Worker, Inc. (UWI) Chief Operating Officer, Ramon "Spanky" Enriquez grabbed everyone's attention as he narrated "A Blog's Life," a practical guide in the social media arena. His discussion has encouraged the students to enjoy the benefits of blogging. Among them are the expression of invaluable points of view and the maximization of the online medium's reach.

Control - Another significant topic, "PESONALITY - Characteristics in Managing your Peso" was discussed by Evans Consultancy's Managing Partner, Dennis "Dencio" Evangelista and STI's Channel Manager, Stanley Dimain. Both charismatic speakers underscored why and how students should manage personal finances. They substantiated their discussion through their own ventures in dealing with financial challenges.

Communicate – The significance of building relationships has been vouched by another engaging speaker, STI's School Operations Manager, Jojo Recio, and in Tacloban, Stanley Dimain, as they unfolded the power of connection in "Think Link." The speakers emphasized that the higher percentage of getting financial success comes from the ability to connect with other people.

Year after year, the STI NYC continuously brings one of the best learning experiences for the students.
