As a testament to its commitment to nurturing competent and responsible members of society, two STI College students were chosen in the rigid screening of the Ayala Young Leaders Congress (AYLC) 2024.

Kyrie Meliz Ferrer from STI West Negros University and Carl Justine Fullente from STI College Malolos proudly represented the yellow and blue banner at the congress, held from July 1 to 5, at SEDA Nuvali in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

With the theme of “Collective Action, Lasting Impact”, the 50 delegates were immersed in various leadership seminars about Student Leadership Framework.

They enjoyed insights from industry professionals like motorcycle taxi-hailing app Angkas CEO George Royeca, Ayala Foundation Senior Director of Corporate Resources Division Ian Villanueva, Coffee for Peace CEO Joji Pantoja, MLMO Architecture and Planning Principal Architect Joy Onozawa, and Bagosphere Head of Business Ellwyn Tan.

From L to R: Royeca, Villanueva, Tan, Pantoja, and Onozawa, shared valuable knowledge with the delegates

“[The] congress taught me that whenever we are facing downfalls, we should savor the feeling and love the moment,” said Fullente in a lengthy Facebook post. “The feeling of losing will be the reason for us to grow stronger,” the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCpE) junior added.

The students also visited various community and industrial sites such as the Inang Kalikasan Agricultural Cooperative, ACEN Solar Farm, and Integrated Microelectronics Inc.

Now a proud graduate of the congress as members of Batch SiBukLaSa, Ferrer and Fullente share a staunch commitment to carrying the lessons they’ve learned in the congress and imparting them to their respective communities within and outside the institution.

“We understand that collective action makes a lasting impact,” said Fullente. We must have a shared vision to continue this very long journey for us to not lose in the process,” he added.

Immersing students in youth-oriented programs like the AYLC attests to STI’s commitment to fostering leadership, personal development, and global awareness among its students.

For 25 years now, the AYLC has been an annual summit that gathers top college and university student leaders nationwide to hone their leadership skills, promote service, and instill a strong sense of societal responsibility and nation-building.
