DOLE partners with STI for biggest job fair in the Philippines

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) together with the largest labor unions in the country and other private institutions including STI have formally launched the "Tayo Na! Trabaho Na!" Labor Day Jobapalooza '09.

Aimed to hasten the assistance to workers affected by the global crisis, the Labor Day Jobapalooza '09 is envisioned to become the biggest nationwide job fair in the Philippines with about 1,000 employers and recruitment agencies in place, held simultaneously in 16 regions on May 1, 2009.

The main celebration will be held at the SMX Convention Hall on May 1, wherein apart from the job fair, there will also be skills demonstration, livelihood products display and sales, and basic computer skills training in two STI Mobile Schools that will be present on the grounds on the event day itself. To cap the night, an  "Alay sa Manggagawang Pilipino" concert featuring top bands will pay tribute to the working Filipino men and women at the Mall of Asia grounds near SMX.

 

Pre-registration runs the whole month of April in STI Campuses nationwide and through the STI Mobile School that will be used in the Mobile Caravan in designated districts in the City of Manila. Interested applicants may also register through www.phil-job.net or www.jobstreet.com.ph.

 

 

STI Admissions Officers and Career Advisers will be there to assist all registrants in any STI Campus nationwide. For walk-in job seekers on the day of the event, just bring a copy of your resume.

 

Participating trade unions are the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines, Federation of Free Workers, Associated Labor Union, Trade Union of the Philippines and Allied Services, Alliance of Filipino Workers, Philippine Organization of Labor Unions, and the National Association of Trade Union.

 

The Labor Day Jobapalooza '09 is in partnership with Globe Telecom, Banco de Oro, SM, Jobstreet.com, STI, Philippine Online Chronicles, and the City Government of Manila.
