Student ARMYs Win at K-reate for a Cause
June 10, 2021
From Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, over a hundred of STI students showcased their passion for the arts and for doing good when they joined SMART’s K-reate For A Cause, a sustainability design contest for high school and college students. Out of the 51 winners from different schools, 26 are young designers from various STI campuses nationwide who won the opportunity to turn their original hallyu (Korean wave) and BTS inspired artworks into goods.
K-reate for a Cause is a national competition where the youth can express their creativity and raise funds for their chosen charity. The design competition is part of the leading digital service provider’s “Live Your Passion With Purpose” campaign. Leading front and center are the South Korean idols Bangtan Sonyeondan or BTS who are known for their powerful performances and top-charting hits. The multi-awarded and Grammy-nominated musicians are also UNICEF ambassadors and are active philanthropists whose humble roots, positive message, and incredible underdog story has inspired a strong following in their fans named ARMY. A perfect match for SMART’s campaign that motivates the youth to overcome their challenges and give back to their community.
The winning artworks will then be produced into PhP50,000 worth of merchandise consisting of water tumblers, canvas tote bags, and t-shirts that the student organization can sell for fundraising activities for their preferred cause or non-profit organization or to give back to the school’s scholarship fund. The main designer will also get a Samsung Galaxy S21 phone, SMART Prepaid 5G SIM, 1,000 worth of SMART Prepaid load, and a SMART Passion + Purpose Mystery Box each to help them in their journey of pursuing their dreams.
